A New Boutique Hotel is Coming to Punta Gorda

A New Boutique Hotel is Coming to Punta Gorda Punta Gorda has long been a desirable but somewhat hidden gem of Southwest Florida. One of those "iykyk" types of things. Punta Gorda is growing and changing and improving in several different areas right now making it even more desirable. One of the changes coming around the corner for Punta Gorda is a new boutique hotel.

Punta Gorda's Up and Coming Hotel

The owners of the Celtic Ray Public House in downtown Punta Gorda have plans to build a hotel across the street from the pub. Celtic Ray is not just any spot to grab a drink and hang out it is a long-standing favorite spot of many locals in the city. The atmosphere is just as the name suggests, a festive Irish pub that hosts live entertainment.

The owners of the Celtic Ray are a father and son-team of local residents. Father and son Kevin and Max Doyle publicly shared their plans to build a hotel across the street from their famous pub in December last year. The plans shared were for a 6-story 65-room unique boutique hotel. The hotel will house an English pub on the ground floor with its own brewery. Kevin also shared plans for roasting coffee.

Here is a quote from Kevin shared with a local news outlet:

We’re going to have a very unique boutique hotel, another pub, our own brewery and our own coffee roaster,” said Kevin Doyle. “We’re very excited.”

The Hotel Met Some Plan Delays

Original plans to break ground on construction for the hotel were scheduled for March 2024 but have been pushed to the end of 2024. The site where the hotel will be built is currently used as overflow parking for the pub. This area will be fenced off next week to begin and make way for construction plans on the hotel. The new plans are for the hotel to open in 2026.

More About the Celtic Ray Irish Pub

The pub was opened in Punta Gorda in 1997 by Kevin. At the time it was the only pub of its kind in Punta Gorda offering a great selection of imported beers. The pub has a focus on serving only the highest quality libations which include imported bottled beers, draft beers, ciders, fine wines, and a fun selection of soft drinks for friends who choose not to indulge in alcohol. There is a full liquor bar with a recent expansion and a full traditional Irish pub menu of great comfort foods. All of the food is made with fresh ingredients from honored family recipes. The fish and chips at the Celtic Ray are not just good they have been recognized around the world.

The pub is open seven days a week every single day of the year. If you are looking for a place to go to get some great food last minute the Celtci Ray is always there for you. Weekend hours are 11 am to 1 am the next morning. The Kitchen closes at midnight.

There is always an active event calendar/schedule happening at the Celtic Ray. From trivia nights to live music. Check out the current coming events on the pub's event page. There is something going on every night.
