Stump Pass

If spending a day at the beach sounds amazing there are several great spots in this area. Some are less busy than others. Enjoy both the Gulf of Mexico and Intracoastal Waterways at Stump Pass. Stump Pass Beach State Park is more than just a stretch of great sandy coastline, there is a fun hiking trail that leads visitors to several great beach stops. Parking is only $3. Arrive early or later in the day to beat the peak hot hours. This is also a great spot for fishing and kayaking.

Lemon Bay

Rebuilt through the efforts of the Englewood Lemon Bay Sunrise Rotary Club. This public park features a boat ramp, a play structure, bathrooms, and a picnic shelter. Parking is fee paid. There are life jackets to borrow if you don't have one for your kids. Go check out the Lemon Bay Sunrise Rotary Park.

Military Heritage Museum

All your summer days don't have to be spent outside. Take a break from the heat and learn something fun and new. This is no stuffy museum where you walk around a collection of artifacts. While you can observe some fascinating relics you can also tour a real Huey helicopter, or enjoy the fun virtual programs. The ship and plan simulators feel more like playing a video game. The Military Heritage Museum is both interesting observation and fun interaction.

Peace River Wildlife Center

A free spot to enjoy, so why not visit? The Peace River Wildlife Center houses various interesting bird species including bald eagles. Donations are welcome, but admission is always free. When you are done visiting the birds the kids can enjoy the beach, nature trail, and park next door.

Octagon Wildlife Sanctuary

Octagon Wildlife Sanctuary is home to surrender exotic animals. This mini "zoo" is full of fascinating animals including lions, tigers, and bears....... You can also find primates, birds, dogs, and many more. Call ahead to enjoy a private guided tour.

Kidstar Park

If all you need is a fun afternoon at a traditional play space, check out Kidstar Park. The play structure is one of the biggest park-like structures in the area. Kids love climbing through play structure tunnels and jumping in ball pits. Older kids enjoy the arcade with a chance to collect tickets and exchange them for prizes.

Eco-Tours at Babcock Ranch

Kids don't jump at the chance to learn something while they are not in school. However the experience at Babcock Ranch makes learning interesting and fun. You don't even have to tell the kids you are going to learn something new, they will just be excited to see wildlife up close and personal (while they learn).

IguanaLand
