Fourth Of July 2024 Celebrations Around Punta Gorda

Freedom Fest

This is a fun Punta Gorda community celebration. It traditionally takes place on the 3rd of July so that residents can enjoy the festivities and other celebrations around the community. This year the celebration will be on the SATURDAY BEFORE July 4, which is June 29.

The celebration runs from noon to 10 pm at Laishley Park right on the waterfront near downtown. The show will be shot from two barges in the water this year as the fishing pier at Laishley Park is still damaged after Hurricane Ian. The fun starts at noon with several different attractions. Bring your kids in their swimwear to enjoy the collection of 12 waterslides from Water-Mania. Kids can also enjoy the large Kids Fun Zone.

Check out several vendor shopping displays and food trucks. Listen to the live music of local and national artists while taking in all the fun. All of this leads up to the huge fireworks display kicking off at 9 pm. Admission is $5 per person to help pay for fireworks and waterslides will require a $10 wristband purchase to enjoy them all day. For more information on the event check out the Freedom Fest website.

View the Fireworks from the Perch 360 Rooftop

If hanging in the crowd is not your thing but you still want to get out and enjoy the fireworks Perch 360 will be hosting a Rooftop Viewing Party of the Freedom Fest Fireworks. Space is limited and there are no reservations so you want to plan to arrive early. The new Skydeck at Perch 360 will offer a reservation-only VIP experience, however.

Fun at Fishermen's Village

Fishermen's Village is always a hub of activity and celebration in Punta Gorda and the Fourth of July is no different. Come out to the waterfront marina village and enjoy several different activities on the Fourth. Make sure to stay long enough to enjoy the Fisherman's Village Independence Weekend Celebration Fireworks. A popular spot to get a great view of fireworks is the west side of the Sunset Beach Club Tiki Bar. Stop by Harpoon Harry's for for live music from 11 am to 9 pm and treats for the kids including face painting, cotton candy, and snow cones.

Lemon Bay Sunrise Rotary Fireworks

Not far from Punta Gorda in Englewood,, the Lemon Bay Sunrise Rotary Club is hosting a fireworks show. The fireworks will be launched from Middle Beach some great viewing spots include neighboring parks such as Indian Mound

Boat Tours

If you are looking for a truly special and low-crowd experience to watch the community fireworks displays check out the available boat tours. Some great companies with fireworks boating experiences in the waters around the displays include the Sunset/Fireworks Cruise hosted by Kingfisher Fleet and the Fun Fireworks Tiki Cruise from Punta Gorda Adventures.

Chris B had this to say about last year's Kingfisher Cruise on Trip Advisor:

"This was my 3rd cruise with them and as usual we had a great time! The crew is always absolutely amazing, this time it was Captain Rickey and mates Brenda and Brad. Boat is clean, especially the bathrooms. My only recommendation is if you are going on a hot day and wearing shorts bring a towel to sit on. The chairs are comfortable and not hot but have a vinyl banded seat and you will stick. Highly recommend and will be back."

Lemon Bay Dolphin Tours will be hosting a fireworks tour for the Lemon Bay Fireworks in Englewood as well. Reservations are required for this cruise and it is a bring your own drinks and food event. Make sure to grab a sweatshirt for after the sun goes down.
